Project Scope
Whissell served as General Contractor for the Bridge Drive Utility Corridor project in Lethbridge, a large-diameter watermain installation utilizing both trenchless technology and open excavation methods. The project demonstrated Whissell's ability to apply collaborative design modifications to optimize utility alignment and construction sequencing, resulting in exceptional schedule performance.
- Large-diameter watermain installation using trenchless technology and open-cut excavation methods
- Utility corridor management including alignment optimization and sequencing coordination
- Surface restoration and site reinstatement upon completion
Challenge & Mitigation
The project alignment presented challenges related to existing utility conflicts and constrained right-of-way conditions that required adaptive sequencing to maintain progress. Whissell engaged collaboratively with the design team to identify alignment modifications that reduced conflict with existing buried infrastructure and allowed for more efficient installation sequencing.
Value Add Solution
Through collaborative design modifications developed with the owner and consultant, Whissell optimized the utility alignment and construction sequencing to such a degree that the project was completed ahead of the original schedule, earning an early completion bonus. This outcome reflects Whissell's commitment to constructability-driven delivery and proactive partnership with clients.
