We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Foreman to lead and manage our underground projects. In this role, you’ll oversee the installation and maintenance of utility lines, including water, sewer, and storm systems. As the foreman, you will be responsible for coordinating a team, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and striving to complete projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to understand project requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities on construction sites, including excavation, grading, compaction, and erosion control, to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate the allocation of labor, equipment, and materials to optimize productivity, minimize downtime, and achieve project milestones within budgetary constraints.
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and support to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
  • Enforce all safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on-site, conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Monitor work progress and quality standards, conducting inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary to ensure that workmanship meets or exceeds project requirements.
  • Utilize construction management software, includingB2W and Bluebeam, for project tracking and documentation.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Train and mentor team members in best practices for construction techniques and safety protocols.
  • Prepare reports on project progress, challenges, and solutions for management.
  • Ensure safety and quality as dictated by Company and regulatory agencies, are adhered to for preserving personnel, equipment and job site; take corrective action and report incidents as necessary.
  • Effectively supervise, direct, train and motivate employees and subcontractors including regular communication regarding daily and projected work schedules, assigned responsibilities, hazards, safety protocol etc.
  • Effectively communicate with Superintendents and management to highlight progress and report any potential work interruptions, differing site conditions or discrepancies in plans that need to be addressed.
  • Ensure all administrative duties are handled in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure all tools required are on the job site and in good operating condition.
  • Onsite Inventory controls.
  • Ensure all locates are present and utilities have been exposed.
  • Lead daily hazard assessments and tool box meetings.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Preparation and submission of time sheets, accident and damage reports and company logs.
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner and serve as the on-site point of contract to clients and the public.

Qualifications:

  • Underground Utility and Earthworks construction experience are required.
  • High attention to detail is required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, OH & S Legislation, and WCB reporting procedures.
  • Understand and maintain quality and production standards and work to achieve established production goals.
  • Must have your own transportation.
  • Must have own steel-toes safety boots.
  • Previous leadership experience
  • 5 years previous civil construction experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Valid Class 5 provincial driver’s license is required
